*cough cough*

Is this thing on?

Anyone help ID these tracks?

Perennial Puffavorite DJ Coki throws down a neat minimix that sounds vaguely familiar. I know I've heard these tracks before somewhere.

...Is it Prince?

Episode XVI: Stealth Episoding

Coming in low over the horizon so as to avoid detection by all but the sharpest of digital eyes, here's Episode 16. Recorded in the hazy halcyon days of yore-- almost exactly one year ago.

PRE-POSTSCRIPT: Saintly turdballs. For whatever reason, this one never really showed up in our iTunes podcast feed. Dust off this old gem, and whet your appetites, dear Puff Legionnaires.

POSTSCRIPT: HOLY SHITBALLS. To the millions of rabid megafans who stormed our central PuffQuarters to righteously protest the fact that I was trying to pass off the old Episode 15 file as a brand new one, please let the great conflagration in your hearts be swiftly quelled. I, the Noblest of Faux-Webmasters, just realized my mistake and have made the necessary corrections. My humblest apologies ("forgiveness preez").

Episode XV: Disinterred

By the blackest of magicks contained within the pages of an apocryphal tome, the ribbed spine of which bears the barely-legible imprint, "Puffronomicon", Nature herself has been bent to my own twisted will. The very Earth now splits asunder, spilling forth its dead. What was thought peacefully interred now shambles forth to podcast once again!

Iä! Iä! Cthulhu Pufftagn!

Mary Anne Hobbs Does LA

Naughty boys, not like that. Interesting video-- about a month old, so still relatively fresh-- about the West Coast and its role in electronic music. Plenty of talk about Flying Lotus, and a smattering of HudMo (aka Hudson Mohawke aka if you don't recognize that name dig through the archives you butthole).

EXCELSIOR!

The oral culture of Puff Chats has learned to transcribe itself, marking the solemn moment when our simple podcast has climbed into the ironclad juggernaut of societal progress. We shall careen wildly into the future, armed with this written knowledge of our past!

Tremble, O Great Empires of the world, for our deeds will be mighty and dreadful beyond all reckoning!

(I've added tracklists for all of our past episodes, and will publish them with all of our forthcoming episodes as well. Poke around the archives and reminisce. Laugh again. Love again. Enjoy!)

Episode XIV: In Memoriam

It is with heavy heart that I must dedicate this very special episode of Puff Chats to Some Damn Coyote, who I-- the Freshest of Cheddars-- mercilessly ran down on the 580 Freeway just south of Tracy, California on February 27, in the Year of Our Lord 2009.

For the record Some Damn Coyote, your mangy little body did a real number on the radiator of my car. But you can't spell "magnanimity" without "Cheez" (humor me, I'm real short on ideas here), so this episode goes out to you anyway, you rascally little mongrel. Hope Coyote Heaven is full of fat, lazy rabbits and somewhat less busy freeways that you can jump onto as suddenly as you'd like.

Only tepidly remorseful,
Webmaster Cheez

Episode XIII: Puffchastity

I don't mean to cast any aspersions upon you, our Most Honorable and Smartly-Discerning Listeners, but Monsieur Cheez knows that you sneaky synth sluts and bass junkies have been trying to hide how deeply your habits run.

While that usually doesn't deter Puff Industries from pumping up the jamz, yeah-- pump, pump it up-- this New Year's season of reflection and self-improvement leaves me loath to capitalize upon your collective iniquity for The Puff's personal gain. So in the name of convalescence, we've cooked up a chaste, beat-free episode of Puff Chats. Dancing is strictly verboten.

And once again, in our never-ending quest to find a way to phase Loche Gabbana out of Puff Chats, we've enlisted the aid of a special guest DJ, Miss Herro Interrobang. A real mouthful of a moniker, that.

PSA

Careful how hard you party, everyone.

Looking at you, Dave.

I am clearly failing in my life...

...when I could have been putting out hot shit like this:

Gonna run out for some skinny jeans, a Spongebob tee and a retarded haircut. I'll probably be fuckawesome amounts of famous when you see me next, so I guess this is goodbye!

-Cheez

NOTE: The actual Rusko that I actually give a damn about doesn't actually appear significantly more respectable. But at least the tune is way better.

Episode XII: Didgeridoo Power-Hour

Aww, hell. Less than a week after the last release, the goddamned liberal media and their "Gotcha" Journalism caught wind of a new Puffisode, and are demanding full and complete disclosure.

Well, let it not be said that Young Cheez doesn't know how to play ball. Many a ball has he played. A supreme ball-handler, he.

Gorge yourselves upon Episode 12, freshly recorded this past evening in the opulent Puff Industries Central HQ.

To the Board of Directors: Thank you for the focus group data. We're doing our best to phase out Loche Gabbana's "strange and alienating" presence on the show by importing a fabulous guest DJ straight from Australia: Puffriginal member, Tokyo Chanel. Records indicate that he skews great amongst problem drinkers and impressionable teen audiences.

Hearts, stars, and horseshoes,
Cheez

Autumnal bliss

I stumbled upon the perfect song for us magnificent bastards who have the luxury of warm and sunny days straight through the first couple weeks of Autumn:

It captures the tone of the season so well: It's gorgeous outside and we know it. But don't worry, we also know it won't last forever.

Incidentally, yeah I know that the grainy Super 8 footage is a touch too precocious. But with such a silky melody and sweet melodies, how can you stay mad at the video?

P.S. Not a one-hit wonder:

Rock the Vote

Deadmau5 / Glenn Morrison '08

Lesbian Upskirt Fantasy

Yeah that's right, I said it.

M83 just released a video for Kim & Jessie. Which you might remember hearing months ago on Puff Chats, because we're visionaries. Or because it was obviously one of the strongest singles on the album to begin with.

But let's not get caught up in semantics:

Now, that video again in Text-Based CheezVision©:

1) WTF, apparently underaged girls undressing to get into their skating outfits. Pedo pedo pedo.
2) WTFx2: Lesbian upskirt fantasy with the older skaters in yellow?
3) How the hell did they get onto a forest road? And what went down with the upskirt lesbo skaters!
4) WTFx3: Urban wasteland rollerskate-off??
5) OMG THEY FELL IN LOVE

That's right. The diction in my inner monologue is nowhere as pedantic as it is in print.

Juicy gossip.

Puff Chats blog.

XOXOXO,
Cheez

I am wetting my pants.

No, shut up. Check this out! Extremely recent live footage of one of my favorite twee bands, The Tidy Ups, performing in public! I thought they had dissipated into the vast snowfields and raging alcoholism of Sweden!

For reference, that song is called "I Hate Being In Love With Elijah Wood." Bad dancing, jangly guitars, handclaps and shameful feelings for smarmy motherfucking movie stars who really shouldn't be as famous as they are. This band. They... they really get me.

Before we get to Episode 9, I thought I'd present a short summary of some fascinating data I collected on a recent anthropological expedition. This is just some of the shit out there that's way suckier than this blog which will appear when you search for "Puff Chats" on Google:
